In the light of the 15 (d) rules of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, this department is recognized as a pioneer in implementing the government's intention to fulfill the constitutional pledge for different backward classes of the country. Due to the introduction of elderly, widow and husband abandoned female allowances, allowances for disabled people, education stipends for the disabled students, freedom fighters honorarium, natural disaster and risk prevention program etc., the role of this department is widely appreciated abroad.

 

In order to bring various programs under institutional and sustainable dignity and state responsibility in 1960, the Probation of Offenders Ordinance in 1960, Registration and Control Ordinance in 1961, 2011 in Children and Disabled Persons (Rehabilitation) Act 2013, Children's Rights, Disability Rights and Protection Act, 2006 The responsibility of formulating and implementing a number of laws and policies including special privileges law of women convicted in prisons SE is playing.

 

The Department has been working relentlessly to implement various national and international certificates or conventions including the United Nations. The United Nations has been playing an active role in the implementation of the Universal Human Rights Charter, Child Rights Charter, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, etc. While working on the Welfare Approach at the beginning, the department is currently taking new initiatives on Right Based and Empowerment Approach.

 

Implementing a number of development projects and programs of this department extends the hand to the targeted population and establishes non-governmental partnerships (limited government assistance in projects undertaken by private ventures). This department has a self-centered approach to conduct advocacy activities through celebrating national and internationally recognized different days and years.

 

The Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh declared January 2 as "National Social Service Day". In the cabinet meeting on June 4, 2012, on January 2, the date of declaration of 'National Social Service Day' was enlisted as 'B' category. Other National Day celebrations including National Disability Day, World Sadhdhari Day, Isharabhas Dinas are also observed.
